John Biffar, President

Dreamtime CEO John Biffar began his career in filmmaking at the University of South Florida. Since the early 1980’s, John has produced unique television programming and features for cable and broadcast. His unique on-air abilities and innovative creative gained him numerous television and journalism awards and national recognition, including at least five Emmys. In 1983, John founded one of the first independent production companies in Fort Myers, Florida, which expanded in sales and reputation and has since evolved into Dreamtime Entertainment, Inc. As President, John has expanded the studio’s client base to encompass both national and international clients.

 

John and his staff have produced award winning commercials, documentaries, national series and feature films. 1994's “Captiva Island” the company’s first feature film, saw theatrical release and aired on HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Encore and Starz networks. In the mid 90’s John worked on national TV series shown nationally on The Travel Channel. Another documentary, “The Nazi Plan to Bomb New York” was commissioned by the History Channel in early 2002. John’s other accomplishments include the 90 minute History Channel documentary “Fire Boats of 9-11” which has received acclaim for its portrayal of the heroic efforts of the New York Fire Department post 9-1. In 2009 John directed the national PBS documentary on legendary underwater cinematographer Al Giddings called "Under The Sea". Other programs include: Travel Channel “Freeze Frame Switzerland”, Travel Channel “Water’s Edge The Bahamas”, Travel Channel “Wildlife Encounters in Alaska”, PBS “Children of the Fourth World”, PBS “Uncommon Friends of the 20th Century” with Walter Conkite - considered for an Academy Award. Over the past two decades, John has served as a director, producer, writer, cinematographer, and on-air talent. He has directed such notable talent as Don Shula (Former coach of the Miami Dolphins), Helio Castroneves (Indy Car Champion) Ernest Borgine (“McCales Navy”), Arte Johnson, Norma Miller (“Sanford & Son”), Bill Cobbs (“Night At The Museum”, “Northern Exposure”) Ali MacGraw (“Love Story”), news legend Walter Cronkite, Olympic skater Dorothy Hamill, and Jacques Cousteau. Biffar’s company continues to produced award winning commercials & long-form programming.

 


 

 

Dave Beaty

Senior Producer

 

Dave Beaty, an emmy award winning film maker and producer, brings over 2 decades of unique story telling expertise to the production department of Dreamtime Entertainment . Dave's unique style, creative vision, Directing, Editing, Videography, Sound Mixing, and computer graphics helps elevate the idea and bring emotion to the story.

Dave is an innovator in the television industry, first being involved in the development of an experimental television center, combining computers, video, art and technology in the early ‘80’s. Since then, he’s been a leading voice in the integration of digital media tools and computer technology in post production. In addition, Dave’s innovative producing and editing style has resulted in outstanding achievements in both documentary and entertainment programs.

Awards include a 2009 Emmy award for the PBS national documentary "Under the Sea With Al Giddings" an Emmy for camera work in Travel Channel's, "Waters Edge The Bahamas" and in 1999 a Suncoast Emmy Award for his editing of the PBS documentary, "Children of the Fourth World". In 2000 Dave received the International Monitor Award for "Uncommon Friends of the 20th Century". Dave has also been honored with many Telly Awards, Addys and a Cable Ace nomination. Other network programming includes Travel Channel's "Freeze Frame Fiji" and "Wildlife Encounters In Alaska with Ali MacGraw", The History Channel''s "Fireboats of 9/11" and "The Nazi Plan to Bomb New York". Dave has also worked on feature segments for America’s Most Wanted, Animal Planet and Home & Garden Television to name a few.

 



 

 


Ron Abplanalp - Creative Director / Dir. of business development

Abplanalp began his career as a creative and media specialist under the tutelage of radio and television creator John McGhan in New York and Los Angeles during the late 1970’s. Since then Abplanalp has worked for numerous television network affiliates as well as serving as creative director for a number of advertising agencies and radio stations in Southwest Florida.

Ron serves as a creative director, associate producer and is an accomplished media and marketing planner. Ron has served as the creative force behind WRCC Radio, Wink TV, Bill Smith Retail Stores, Peter’s La Cuisine Restaurants, Hooters Restaurants, Buick and Ford. His extraordinary work has earned him numerous advertising awards in categories of copy writing and producing. During the past 25 years he has won over 50 local and regional ADDY Awards for creativity as well as being the winner of the prestigious First Place National ADDY Award. In 1997 Ron won a national Telly Award for his participation as the Creative Director for "Freeze Frame Switzerland", a long form program airing on The Discovery Network
